Rules
Registration
Teams are officially Registered
for play in the 2003-4
Season of the CFFL.com Fantasy Basketball
once the
following are received by CFFL Commissioner's Office from new Owners: i) completed Registration
Form; ii) Fees for the number of Franchises applied to Register for. (Owners
qualifying for the 'Play-For-Free' option need only submit the Registration Form.)
Note: completion of Registration Form, in part or whole, and submission to
CFFL.com through online web site, is considered an agreement to complete
both parts of Registration process, above; failure to remit payment at time
of form completion indicates acceptance of follow up billing by CFFL.com
staff.
Registration Fee: Fees for the
2003
Season are
$29.95 for a single team, $19.95 for additional teams Registered by the same Owner
('Owner' defined by e-mail address used to register Team, and/or
specifications in communication with The CFFL
Web Site for CFFL business.) Once Fees are received (or the 'Play For Free' option
is selected during Registration and three referred teams have completed
registration) Owners will be assigned a UserID and Password, allowing
access to the remainder of The CFFL web site. (During off-season, the CFFL web site is
open to all visitors.)
Selection of Conference: Assignment to Conferences
is done by CFFL, by default; however, at time of Registration Owners can request placement in a
particular Conference. New Owners wishing to start a New
Conference request this on
the Registration Form. The Name to be used for the Conference
is forwarded to CFFL; this Conference
will be added to the List of Conferences in CFFL, and we will offer entry into that
Conference to other Teams Registering afterward. (CFFL will accommodate these requests if
the number of Registrants allows; if a Full Conference can not be created by the time of
Opening week Roster selection, Teams in partially-filled Conferences will be placed into existing
Conferences which
require additional Teams. Teams will be notified of this change in League Structure if it
becomes necessary.)
Structure CFFL.com
Fantasy Basketball is divided into
Conferences of up to 12 teams each. Each
Conference consists of two
DIvisions (e.g., North and South). Head to Head and Overall
Points competition (where applicable) are specific to the Conference
your team is
Registered in.
Each team must have the
designated number of players at each specified position on the Starting Line-Up page form. The Position of each player is assigned by The
CFFL. (Official team pages are utilized as Roster reference; team pages are
available online and listed on team pages at CFFL.com site.) Those players that on occasion play positions
other than their Designated Position (assigned by Official team page
web site) must be placed at the Designated Position for
the purposes of the Starting Line Up. If an Owner submits a
Roster with players in positions that do not correspond to their Designated Position, that
Player receives zero (0) points for that week.
Prior to the first game of the Week, each
registered Team is required to submit a Starting Line Up. The Starting Line Up
(SLU) consists of the following Players:
(S.L.U.)
3 Forwards / 2 Guards
[Note -- formerly,
2 Forwards/1
Center/ 1 Guard (2002-3) ; 1 Power Forward, 1 Small Forward, 1 Center, 1
Shooting Guard, 1 Point Guard; revisions made Nov 21, 2003.]
Players from any Div. 1-A
basketball team are eligible for inclusion on the Starters list, by each
Owner; no duplicates allowed on Submitted Lineup by same Owner for same
Team. Updates to Starting Line Up are due to The CFFL
by the earliest of the following: game time OR 12 PM Monday. Teams that do not submit
Rosters by the deadline will have the previous week's Roster utilized for that week's
competition. Teams that do not fill a position on the SLU on a given week will compete
that week with that Roster position unfilled (assigned zero points).
Only those points earned by players in the
Starting Line Up for that week will be added to the Team's Overall Points and the Points
used to calculate Winner of Head-to-Head competition (where applicable).
Rosters will be posted as soon as processed by
CFFL. As additional Teams join Conferences their Rosters
will be posted as soon as completed.

Season Week

Scoring. Points are awarded to players on
CFFL Teams corresponding to the performance of the named players in actual
Basketball games that week.
Points for CFFL teams are the accumulated CFFL Points earned by each Player
listed in the Starting Line Up for that week by the CFFL team. These Points are added to
the year-to-date total CFFL points earned by that Team, and are utilized to determine the
Winner of the Head-to-Head competition (where applicable) between CFFL Conference Teams
scheduled to compete against each other that week. The Head-to-Head Winner is that team of
the pair that earns a higher Total of CFFL Points that week. Ties: When both teams
competing Head-to-Head during the regular Season accumulate equal Total Points in a given
week, the result is entered into their record as a "Tie." No Ties
are given for Head-to-Head play in Playoff competition; If the Total Points earned by both
teams in a Playoff competition are equal, the Tie-Breaker system is called upon.
First Tie-Breaker is Points of "Center" players for the two teams. If these
points are a Tie as well, the additional Tie-Breaker is utilized-- Forwards, then
Guards. Last Tie-Breaker, if necessary, is a Supervised
coin-toss by Commissioner.
In CFFL play, Points are given to Players listed
on the Starting Line Up according to performance in the listed Scoring Categories
('Scoring' section, 'HowToPlay' page).
Any Player listed at a position which is not his
Designated Position will be considered a null entry for that week, and will be assigned
(0) Points regardless of actual game performance. (The CFFL Commissioner determines the
Designated Position for each Player as noted above). Any discrepancies with
Starting Line submissions will result in the Player being voided. Errors made in
submission of Players for weekly Starting Line Ups (i.e. players slotted into Positions
that are not their Designated Position) will be treated as receiving zero points for that
week's game.
That Owner who fields the team whose Starting
Roster players score the greater total points of the two scheduled for Head-to-Head
competition (where applicable) that week will be designated the Winner that week. Equal
Points in Head-to-Head competition are considered a "Tie" for both teams, and
entered into records as such. Playoffs do not allow for Ties in Head-to-Head competition:
Tie-Breaker system is called upon to determine Winner. (See above.)
Schedule. The
2003-4
Season
begins December 2nd
Playing Week is defined as games played
by the teams from Monday 12:01 am through Sunday 11:59pm (starting times).
The first 10* weeks of the Season
are considered the Regular Season. These games are utilized to determine the teams
that qualify for Conference Playoffs. Overall Points continue to be calculated for every
Team throughout the Playoffs. Teams not qualifying for Playoffs compete for Overall Points
honors in Weeks 11 through 13.
PLAYOFFS (Weeks 11 through 13 )
Eight teams in each Conference
qualify for the playoffs. In Week 11,
four teams in each Division play head-to-head, in the following format:
Team 1 vs. Team 4; Team 2 vs. Team 3. (Rule clarification 013003a:
Seeds are determined by head-to-head season records; ties in overall record
are broken by Season Total Points; if Total
Points are tied, head-to-head record during season is used; if tied, coin
flip by Commissioner is used.) In Week 12, the two winners in
each conference play head-to-head for the Conference title. In Week
13, Division Champions face off head-to-head for the Conference
title.
[*Dec. 1, 2002 NOTE
-- Bonus week of play is being offered for 2003-4
season; 11 weeks regular
season, instead of traditional 10)
Playoffs: Top seeded team
(remaining) in each conference receives a 15-point bonus to their score in Week 1 and 2;
second seeded team receives 10-point bonus in week one. (In Week 2 of Playoffs, seeds are
determined by Best Records, with Total Points as Tie-Breaker.) In the Final Week of Playoffs -- League
Championship game -- no bonuses are given.

Note:
Free-Play Guidelines
League Maintenance Issues.
(Certain items of note concerning everyday operation of The CFFL.)
Non-Participation. Owners who do not participate in the League for
extended periods. Owners who, for whatever reason, do not participate in the League become
a hindrance to smooth operation of the League. To ensure that Owners who are no longer
interested in Playing do not continue to receive Updates, Information, etc. from CFFL, and
time is not invested in maintaining their teams which can better be spent elsewhere in the
CFFL, teams that have become inactive will be removed from The CFFL. Determination of
non-participation is made by the Commissioner, under the following guidelines: Owner has
not updated team for four (4) weeks/games, and no contact has been made by Owner for other
issues concerning their team (e.g. communicating that the team is still inactive, and no
changes in the Roster were felt necessary for four weeks). CFFL wants to ensure
satisfaction of Owners and efficiency in handling transactions, scoring, etc. and the
Non-Participation rules are set up to enable this for teams who are actively
participating.
Language
Use of Profanity and other unacceptable Language in dealings with CFFL
is not tolerated. Any such conduct by visitors to the CFFL Web Site or teams registered
with CFFL will result in immediate dismissal from the League (at Owners' expense if a paid
registrant). Owners are asked to report any problems of this (or other) nature so that
CFFL Administration can address the issue.
Team Names. There are no limitations on the type of name utilized by
CFFL Owners, with exception of the following: i) no names which are offensive to other
Owners or visitors to the CFFL site (Determination by CFFL administrators.); ii) no names
including Names of existing College Football teams (a violation of trademark laws).
System Difficulties In the event of difficulties with the operation
of the CFFL website, necessary corrections will be made as quickly as possible. All
information affected by the system difficulties will be corrected as soon as possible. Any
interference with normal operation of CFFL teams and Owner activities will be rectified as
quickly as possible. In the event that a situation can not be remedied completely, CFFL
will decide how best to address the situation with the Owners. As any participant in
Internet activities will know, problem situations with software or programming
accessibility are subject to random 'mishaps,' and The CFFL administration will endeavor
to ensure that minimal interference with normal operation of the League will be
experienced by owners. We apologize in advance for any interruptions , and assure our
Owners that smooth operation of the CFFL throughout the
Season is the first priority
of CFFL Administration. But, as we all know, sometimes things just get a little screwy, so
we can't guarantee smooth operation throughout the year! We will address issues as they
arise, and remedy them as quickly as we are able.
Refunds Owners who have Registered with The CFFL can cancel their
participation and receive a full refund, before the Opening day of competion,
only.
Rules, Rules, and More Rules...! Now that that's all taken care of, Let's
Start the Season!
