The College Fantasy Football League
College Football, Fantasy Style!

Introduction to The CFFL

You've played Fantasy Football, and you love College Football. But you've never had the chance to combine these? Now you have The College Fantasy Football League! Just as Fantasy Football with NFL players made Sundays more enjoyable, and Sportscasts each evening (and the next morning, for some games!) a 'Must See' event, so it will be with College games. Start getting magazines that talk about College Football, and start watching every talk show during the week where that weekends' games will be the topic of discussion.

Draft a team of College players that you feel will perform well this year. You select who will start for you each week. You decide who gets cut, and who gets picked up as the season progresses. You Own the team-- do what you feel is necessary to make them Winners!

The College Fantasy Football League brings you everything that you're used to seeing in Fantasy Sports, but with a new 'Twist'-- College Football players and teams. Years of experience running Fantasy Football leagues utilizing players from the NFL have gone into making The CFFL an exciting addition to being a College football Fan!
Draft a team of 24 College players (and Special Teams/Defenses). You keep a Roster of 24 players that you draw from each week to make your Starting Line Ups. Take those players you feel will break on the scene this year, and leave your opponents wishing they would have selected those guys.

Easy, right? Well, would you have taken a pair of Quarterbacks from schools in Kentucky to lead your team a few years back? You would have been smart if you had! What about a Running Back from a supposedly 'lowly' team like Iowa State a couple of years back? You would have been a genius if you did. That is your job now, though. Who will be this year's stars? Who is this year's Ricky Williams, or Tim Couch? Will Colorado have another Kordell/ Salaam/Johnson trio? If so, Grab them! Look everywhere you can to find players who will put up the numbers you need to take your Division. And Bowl Game!

The CFFL makes each week's College games nerve-wracking, as you wait to see how your Players performed. You feel the tension in every game where one of your players is in action. Even the most 'anti-Miami' Coach would have been cheering "Go 'Canes" last year if they had slotted Miami's leading rusher into their team's Running Back position! And Buckeye fans can stop hating Pac-10 teams long enough to chalk up a few points from a QB from UCLA or Washington State, or a Tailback from USC now and then! Or, if you want to stay true to your colors, throw together a few players from each of your Favorite teams to make your squad. Plan it right, and any combination of players can win it all in this League.

Overview of Features

The Draft:   Teams are drafted by Division. Team Owners submit a Draft List (players you wish to Draft, by position, with players ranked by value) to The CFFL, and our computer runs a Draft for your Division.  The Draft for the 2002 season begins one week after your Division is filled.  [First Drafts scheduled for weekend of July 22nd; additional Drafts held throughout the summer.] Rosters will be posted as soon as processed by The CFFL.

New Owners can Draft a New team (in the next Draft following their Registration), or pick up an un-owned team from an existing Division   (select a ready- made team that is not yet owned; the Roster can be modified through Free Agents-- non-drafted or Waived players-- and Trades with other teams' Coaches.)
(See Rule Book for full details on the Draft process.)

Your Roster:   You Draft a total of 24 players and Defense/Special Teams. These selections must include the following list of 'Players' so that the minimum Weekly Roster positions can be met: 2 QBs, 4 RBs, 4WRs, 2 TEs, 2PKs, 2 Def/STs.  The remaining 8 slots on your Overall Roster can be filled by 'players' from any of the above positions. This allows Owners to select additional QBs if they feel this is a strong position in this year's class, or extra Defenses if you are not sure which of your preferred Defenses will have the best year. Also, you can utilize the extra slots to fill gaps that will be made by the varied 'Bye' weeks in the schedules of different teams. Having a handful of extra RBs on your roster when two of your preferred RBs are off that week will be very beneficial to your overall points, but more importantly to your Head-to- Head record that week! Each week you draw from your 24-player Roster the group you want to be named Starters for that week.

Trades/Waivers
Owners can modify the make-up of their team throughout the Season, as they see players who are developing into stars and those who are becoming flops! Drop players who aren't performing, pick up ones you think can help. To do this, simply go to the 'Transactions' page and enter the names of players you wish to Add, and those you will Drop to make room for the new additions. Send this form in to The CFFL and your Roster will be updated immediately.

Scoring

In CFFL play, points are given to players that perform in the designated 'Scoring Categories.' Scoring in CFFL competition follows scoring method used in our other Fantasy Football Leagues (with NFL players).

Points are awarded according to the following:
Touchdowns-- 6 pts., except Passing TDs, which are valued at 4 Pts. each.
(This includes Defensive and Special Teams TDs.)
2-pt Conversion: 2 pts. Rushing Conversion; 1-pt Passing and Receiving Conversion.
Defensive scoring:
INTs-- 2 pts. (unless resulting in TD, when 6 more pts. added on)
Sacks-- 1 pt. (unless resulting in TD, when 6 more pts. are added on).
Safeties-- 2pts.
'Points Against' for your Defense-- 1
2 pts. (Shutout), 6 pts. (under 10), and 3 pts. (under 15).
Yardage:
Rushing/Receiving yardage:
50-99 yds (3 points)   //  100-149 yds  (6 pts)  // 150-199 yds (10 pts)  //  200+ yds (15 pts)
Passing yardage :
200-299 yds (3 pts)   //  300-349 yds ( 6pts)  //  350-399 yds (10 pts)  //  400+ yds (15 pts)

Note: Players who score CFFL points while playing a position other than their principle Position for that team will still receive those points for the purposes of The CFFL scoring. (For example, a trick play where RB throws a TD pass to QB.) However, a Player can not be slotted in as a Starter at a position which is not his principle position (or "starting" position for his college team). Any Player penned in at a position which is not his regular position will be considered a null entry for that week. CFFL administrators determine the 'principle' position for each player before the start of the season. Any discrepancies with Draft List submissions will be taken up with the Owner in question in order to ensure that no player positions on your Roster are voided due to discrepancy in position assignment. Errors made in submission of players for weekly rosters (i.e. players slotted into positions that are not designated as their 'principle' position) will be treated as receiving zero points for that week's game.

The Owner who fields the team whose Starting Roster players score the greater total points of the two pitted Head-to-Head for that week will be the Winner that week. Ties in Head-to-Head scoring are are considered a "Tie" for both teams, and entered into Head-to-Head records as such.

Schedule
The 2002 Season begins the weekend of Sept. 1st, and runs through the weekend of November 18th. The starting date was selected in order to ensure that enough teams were in action by opening day of the League. (Several teams play before this date, but an insufficient number to make the League fair.) Owners can draft players from teams that start early, and just begin to play them in games that are scheduled after 9/1/01. Players on teams that do not kick off their season until the weekend after CFFL's opening day can be drafted also, and just not utilized in your Starting Line Up in that first week.
The CFFL is divided into Conferences, made up of 10-12 Teams. Each Conference is divided into two Divisions, North and South. Teams play every team in their Division and a selection of out-of-Division teams in Head-to-Head competition.
During the season, each team completes an 11-game season against other coaches in the Conference. A portion of this schedule is Head-to-Head competition, and the entire Season is utilized for Overall Points competition. Record for the Head-to-Head competition will be posted along with Overall Points.
The first 8 weeks of the season are used to determine qualifiers for Playoffs. (Teams finishing in the top four slots in each Division are granted a position in the Playoffs for that Conference.)
The following Head-to-Head schedule is used for 10-team Leagues:

Week 1: 1/2, 3/5, 4/7, 6/9, 8/10
Week 2: 1/3, 2/4, 5/7, 6/10, 8/9
Week 3: 1/4, 2/5, 37/, 6/8, 9/10
Week 4: 1/5, 2/8, 3/9, 4/6, 7/10
Week 5: 1/6, 2/3, 4/8, 5/10, 7/8
Week 6: 1/7, 2/6, 3/10, 4/9, 8/5
Week 7: 1/9, 2/7, 3/8, 6/5, 4/10
Week 8: 1/8, 2/10, 3/4, 5/9, 6/7
Weeks 9-11
Playoffs

Weeks 9 and 10 pit the qualifiers Head-to-Head to determine the Division champions. (Overall Points continue to be calculated for every team, however, and teams finishing in the fifth or lower slots by Week 9 can overtake higher ranked teams in the remaining three weeks, to claim the Overall Points title.) The champions of each Conference square off in Week 11 for the Conference Championship, in their Conference Bowl Game. (Again, all teams participate in Week 11 for Overall Points competition, as well as the two teams vying for Bowl victory/ Head-to-Head Championship.) Owners should keep this schedule in mind when Drafting and when making Transactions throughout the Season. Examine schedules of the College teams and see who would best perform in these three weeks of playoffs. Players who will not be utilized as much during the regular season but who have a good chance of performing during these weeks can be valuable draft choices.
In addition to the Head-to-Head competition, Overall Points are used to determine the winners of Prizes for the
2002 CFFL Season. (See Rules for complete details.)

CFFL will post a copy of the 2002 College Football Season as these become available. (For owners to use in planning their team around Bye weeks and strength of schedule.)

League Maintenance Issues:  (Items of note concerning everyday operation of The CFFL.)

"Non-Participation" (Owners who do not participate in the League for extended periods.)
Owners who, for whatever reason, do not participate in the League become a hindrance to smooth (and fair) operation of the League. To ensure that Owners who are no longer interested in Playing do not continue to receive Updates, Information, etc. from The CFFL, and time needed to maintain their teams can be better spent elsewhere in The CFFL, teams that have become inactive due to Non-Participation will be removed from The CFFL. Determination of Non-Participation is made by the Commissioner, under the following guidelines: Owner has not updated team for four (4) weeks/games, and no contact has been made by Owner for this or other issues concerning their team (e.g. communicating that the team is still active, and no changes in the Roster were felt necessary for four weeks). CFFL wants to ensure satisfaction of Owners and efficiency in handling transactions, scoring, etc. and the Non-Participation rules are set up to enable this for teams who are actively participating.

Team Names
There are no limitations on the type of name utilized by CFFL Owners, with exception of the following: i) no names which are offensive to other Owners or visitors to the CFFL site, as Determined by The CFFL; ii) no names including Names of existing College Football teams or organizations (a violation of trademark laws).

System Difficulties
In the event of difficulties with the operation of The CFFL website, necessary corrections will be made as quickly as possible. All information affected by the system difficulties will be corrected as soon as possible. Any interference with normal operation of CFFL teams and Owner activities will be rectified as quickly as possible. In the event that a situation can not be remedied completely, CFFL will decide how best to address the situation with the Owners. As any participant in Internet activities will know, problem situations with software or programming accessibility are subject to random 'mishaps,' and The CFFL administration will endeavor to ensure that minimal interference with normal operation of the League will be experienced by Owners. We apologize in advance for any interruptions , and assure our Owners that smooth operation of the CFFL throughout the
2002 Season is the first priority of CFFL Administration. But, as we all know, sometimes things just get a little screwy, so we can't guarantee smooth operation throughout the year! We will address issues as they arise, and remedy them as quickly as we are able.

Refunds
Owners who have Registered with The CFFL can cancel their participation and receive a full refund, before their Draft date (when the team is considered officially enrolled in The CFFL
2002 Season) if reasons are provided and agreed to by CFFL.com.
