- QUESTIONS ABOUT CFFL.COM -
Q: What is CFFL.COM and where did it come from?
A: CFFL.COM is a college fantasy football website site created by a group of friends who have a passion for both college football and fantasy sports. We have been playing college fantasy football in spread sheets for many years and decided it was time to make it a little easier. The idea got completely out of control and turned into this website.
Q: How long has CFFL.com been around?
A: This is our very first year! It is a huge challenge, but so far feedback has been amazing. There are some things that occasioanlly go wrong, but we are quick to fix them.
Q: Is your site really free?
A: Yes! We don't even have a billing department or a place to collect any payments in our signup form. We make just enough money from our one ad to pay for the server each month.
Q: Do you plan to charge next year?
A: Most like not. We haven't decided for sure yet, but everyone who signs up this year will definitely be grandfathered in as free for life.
- QUESTIONS BEFORE THE DRAFT -
Q: How do I create a league?
A: Just click on the create a league link in the header of the site and you will be brought to a page to determine your league settings. Be careful with your league settings to make sure there won't be any problems in the draft. i.e. Creating a 16 team league that is SEC only with 4 team defenses per team. You would run out of players to draft!
Q: How do I join a league?
A: Just click on the find a league link in the header of the site and you will be brought to a page to find a league for you. You can sort to find a draft date that is a good time for you to pick your team. Once you find one you like, just type in your team name and hit join! Note: If it is a private league you will need the league password from the person who created the league.
Q: How do prerank my players before the draft?
A: Once your league is completely full you will find a feature to prerank your players in the league home page.
Q: How do draft my team?
A: If your league is full a link to enter the draft will appear on your league home page three hours before the scheduled draft time. You will also receive an email reminder four hours before the start of your draft.
Q: What if I can't make my draft time?
A: Your team will be chosen from your list of preranked players first, then by a very complex algorithm we created to select the best team for you.
Q: What happens if I'm in a league that never gets filled or drafts?
A: On September 2nd we will delete all the leagues that didn't draft.
- QUESTIONS ABOUT THE DRAFT -
Q: How do I pick my players?
A: We highly recommend you join one of our many mock drafts (found in the find a league page) prior to picking your own team. The draft software is very user friendly, but it is still nice to get familiar with it early on.
Q: Are all drafts live?
A: All of our drafts are live, but if you want us to pick your team for you, just don't show up to your draft! Also, if you want to do an offline draft we will have a place for you to upload the results when you are finished. Just email us and we can direct you to the place to do this with instructions.
Q: How long do I have to make a pick?
A: Draft pick timers are set to 60 seconds per pick. However, the commissioner of your league can pause the draft at any time. When he unpauses the draft, the timer will be reset for an additional 60 seconds. This will allow you to take a pizza break, make a beer run, or take care of anything else in the middle of the leagues draft that might come up. Sometimes the draft can be so long you will want to do it over two weekends. Just pause it and come back when you are ready.
Q: How long does a draft take?
A: This depends on your league settings and how many teams are in your league. If you figure about a minute per pick you can figure out how long it might take. An eight team league with default roster settings typically takes between 1-2 hours. Bigger leagues can much longer.
Q: What if I am late for the draft?
A: If you are in a private league you can ask the commissioner to wait for you. All private leagues start off paused and must be activated by the commissioner. If you know the commissioner won't make the draft just tell him to remove the league password after the league has all the teams joined. This will make the league public which will start the draft exactly at the time set for the league.
Q: My draft is paused and the commissioner can't unpause it. Help!
A: This happens when the pool of available players at a certain position has run out and there are still more needed to complete your draft. For example, you create a 10 team ACC only league and elect to have 2 starting Team Def and 1 backup Team Def. The best solution to fix this is to add more conferences to your league.
Q: How do I view the picks of the other teams?
A: Inside the draft above the chat box there is a tab to view Draft Results, in there you can click on All Results to choose other teams.
- QUESTIONS AFTER THE DRAFT -
Q: My friends all created ridiculous team names, how can I tell who owns which team?
A: To see information about the teams in your league just mouse over the name of the team in the weekly matchup portion of the League Home page. (Note: This is only visable to drafted leagues.)
Q: How do I change my starting lineup?
A: Visit the starting lineup page from within the league pages. From there just drag and drop your bench players into the starting positions.
Q: How do add/drop/trade players?
A: Right now this needs to be done from the team management page. We are in the process of creating add/trade links to every player link on the site.
Q: When do lineups need to be set by?
A: You must have your player in their starting spot 10 minuntes before their scheduled game time. No player can be moved into or out of a lineup after the gametimes posted on our schedules page.
Q: When do players become eligible for Add/Drops after they have played?
A: Sundays after official stats are posted and league standings calculated.
Q: Why don't you have the game times for every game?
A: Most of the time it is because the schools haven't posted the official game time yet. Unlike other major sports we sometimes won't have official game times until the week before the game.
Q: How long is a fantasy week?
A: Weeks run from Monday through Sunday.
Q: How long is the waiver period when you drop a player?
A: Right now there isn't one. We are looking into it for year two. If someone gets dropped they are available for pickup immediately.
Q: How accurate are your player projections?
A: Our projections are based on past performances or past performances of similarly ranked players. They also factor in the defense's past performance against the particular projected stat. We aren't sure how accurate they will be, but if football was played by robots we are certain they would be really close.
- SCORING -
Q: Do I get credit if my RB throws a TD pass?
A: Yes. All stats scored by your players in your starting lineup will count. Even if your kicker comes in and catches a TD pass it will count.
Q: What is considered a Defensive Touchdown?
A: Defensive touchdowns are scored from fumble recoveries, interceptions, kickoff returns, and punt return TDs.
Q: How are tackles and tackles for loss scored?
A: Tackles are the total of tackles and assisted tackles. The same is done for tackles for loss.
Q: What live stats do you do?
A: Anything we can get our hands on, which is all offenseive stats for every player in a starting lineup and most major defensive stats. Things like tackles, sacks, and tackles for loss we don't get until Sundays.
Q: When do stats become official?
A: Official stats and standings will be calculated on Sundays, except week 1 which will run through Monday and include the Miami/Maryland game. The time of day will vary from week to week depending on when the NCAA releases official stats.
Q: What is the tie breaker order to determine playoff teams?
A: Overall record, division record, non-divsion record, total points scored, least points allowed, highest one week total.
Q: What is the tie breaker procedure during the playoffs?
A: The team with the player who scored the highest number of points will win the a tied game, if both top players are tied it will go to the player with the second highest, third, etc. until the tie is broken. If by some miracle all players on both teams scored the same amount of points then the highest seed will move on.
