ROUND EIGHT

8.01 FantasyGMs (John)

QB:      RB:   WR:
TE: Winslow, Miami K: D:
GM's Analysis:  I was happy to have Winslow slip through this far. While a tight end, he's Miami's #1 option in the passing game, and should improve his numbers from last year as Brock Berlin's safety net. I felt he was more of a sure thing than any of the remaining WRs at this point.

8.02   FFWarroom (John)

QB: Rivers, NCSU RB:     WR:
TE: K: D:
GM's Analysis:

8.03  CFFL.com (Mark/C.)

QB: RB:  WR:
TE: K: D: Oklahoma
GM's Analysis: We're glad to have the Sooners backing up our talented offense in 2003.  A guaranteed strength each week but two, and for those weeks we will draft a backup at the position.
We do not like jumping on picks too early, but we have lost several Players already due to our patient attitude -- see Kretschmer, Abron, Symons, Hendry, and now Winslow.  So, with apologies for acting like a panicked Team manager, we are selecting Defense here in the 8th.  Our RB pool will be there when we select in the 9th, and our WR talent (which is going to be a piecemeal unit for 2003) will have guys available in the 10th.

8.04  FantasyAsylum.com (Brian/Don)

QB: RB:   WR:  Welker, Texas Tech
TE: K: D:
GM's Analysis:

8.05  CollegeFootballNews.com (Pete)

QB: RB:  WR:
TE: K: Novak, Maryland D:
GM's Analysis:

8.06  College and Pro Football Newsweekly (Vic/Steve)

QB:   RB:  Miree, Pittsburgh WR:
TE: K: D:
GM's Analysis: The pool of potential stud RBs is rapidly dwindling, and we needed to add some depth at the position. He closed 2002 on a tear, and we're hoping for a carryover effect now that he's all by himself in the backfield with quarterback Rod Rutherford. Even 10 touchdowns from Miree would be great at this stage of the game.

8.07  NationalChamps.net (Tim)

QB:   RB:   WR:
TE: K: D: Texas
GM's Analysis: The Horns bring back 8 starters from a group that allowed just 208 yards per game, 16 points per game and a lot of depth around them. Take away Oklahoma, and UT might be the most talked about defense in the nation.

8.08 SCFL/Rotowire (Eric)

QB:   RB:    WR:
TE: K: D: Va Tech
GM's Analysis: I was trying to stay away from drafting a defense this early, but I couldn't pass up the Hokies with this defensive scoring system.  They usually score at least 6 or 7 Defensive TD's per year and the schedule against some weaker opponents (James Madison, Connecticut, Rutgers, Temple) helped my decision.  Not to mention the fact that they have 9 returning starters from a year ago.

8.09 RedEyeSports (Josh)

QB:   RB: Henderson, Texas Tech   WR:
TE: K: D:
GM's Analysis: Last year, Henderson caught a NCAA Freshman record 98 passes.  Rushing and receiving combined he totaled over 1,400 yards and 13 TDs.  With our scoring system of pt per 10 yards, it doesn't matter how he gets them, on the ground or through the air.

8.10 Todd (MrSports.com/Skyhawk Sports)

QB:   Losman, Tulane RB:   WR:
TE: K: D:
GM's Analysis:
